DNA Clinic
In 2005 Sequence Biotechnologies invited BCTC to open the first DNA Clinic in Northern Ireland. Sequence is affiliated with the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, NHS Research and Development Trusts and International Research Institutions.
Each individual/family involved in a DNA test is offered a results session during which they will be shown the test results and provided with an explanation of their meaning. Clients will then have the opportunity to ask questions, receive impartial advice or they may chose to receive counselling about their situation, if they need additional support.
Since DNA testing can involve some stress for clients, BCTC staff provide counselling and support following DNA testing.
